The Hard Place #1 of 5 (Limited Run)
From the publisher: “After five years in prison, AJ Gurney, a legendary wheelman in Detroit, has decided it’s time to go straight. He returns home to work in his father’s garage and disappear into anonymity. But during a visit to the bank, AJ is recognized by two violent bank robbers, and they demand AJ be their getaway driver. To ensure his compliance, they take a young female hostage; unfortunately, she happens to be the daughter of a Russian crime lord. AJ now finds himself pursued by a bitter police department and hunted by every asset of the Russian mob. Without a doubt, he’s in a very hard place.”
One of the cool things about comic books these days is the ability to tell any story, with any level of complexity, at any time. There’s a ton of those types of stories out there. However – sometimes we just want a simple story. Built like classic TV. A-Team. Knight Rider. Starsky and Hutch. We want a story with a flawed good guy and one or more bad guys. This book is exactly that.
The Hard Place plays like a classic bad guy makes good story. He’s flawed but likeable. The story is simple and easy to follow which makes it fun to enjoy the scenery. And the best part is Nic Rummel looks like this might be his first book. He’s listed as a tattoo artist and comic artist with one book (this one) listed in his credits. As a result, the art style is very ink heavy and well defined. Doug Wagner is jumping from books like Warcraft and Red Sonja to helm this story.
Get in on this while you can
This book is an easy start to the story. Additionally, with a max of 5 books coming for this set you can get into it and not worry about the ol’ OCD kicking up and costing you money. Get into this tomorrow while you can – I have a feeling this book will sell like crazy.
