Straight outta Antarctica, come along for a ride with heavy metal Gods of Gore and masters of all that lives GWAR, as they bumble their way through time, making friends, killing friends, and drowning the entire human timeline in blood, bile, and, err . . . other fluids, explaining once and for all the question on everyone’s minds: “How the hell did we get here, and why is everything so damn effed up?!”

It’s gonna be a bloodbath, a royal rumble, and the touching story of a boy and the deadGWAR example page dog he loves all rolled up into the awesomest and most violently vulgar time-travel comic story to ever grace your pathetic human eyeballs!

GWAR: ORGASMAGEDDON is a blasphemous and blood-drenched 4-issue comic book series by shock rock band GWAR, writer Matt Miner (Toe Tag Riot, Critical Hit), artist Jonathan Brandon Sawyer (Welcome Back, Critical Hit), colorist Marissa Louise (RoboCop, Escape from New York), letterer Taylor Esposito (The Paybacks, Red Hood and the Outlaws) and editor Brendan Wright (Archie vs. Predator, Grindhouse: Doors Open at Midnight).

This is a first for this reader: the book was funded from a kickstarter and as of posting they have raised a little over $45K (its also funny that there are exactly 666 backers).  To be fair – this is a hack and slash book with Gwar as the protagonists – it’s not deep by any means.  You get three stories with a couple of different styles of art and writing to keep this interesting.  The first story is the main attraction Orgasmageddon (written by Miner and Matt “Sawborg Destructo” Maquire), followed by X-Cops/Zipper pig (written by Bob “Bonesnapper” Gorman) and finally Gwar Slave Follies “Pissing Match” (written by Miner).  The band have definitely had their input into these stories – with the over-the-top sarcasm and gore that is carried over from their shock rock stage shows.

Who are Gwar?  A shock metal/rock band that has been around since 1984 and base their “look” on a interplanetary theme with each member named appropriately to their warrior status.  Check out their wikipedia page for more details – an interesting group of guys for sure.

Gwar Alternate Covers

If you are a fan of Gwar, this should be a no brainer.  While I’m not sure the items on their kickstarter page are still available (a signed skull for example), you can get multiple covers at your local comic book store – pick up the set! (The picture above is from Alpha Comics – so get them all while you can on new comic Wednesday)
