Smitten For Smiting

Generations: The Unworthy Thor & The Mighty Thor #1

Written by Jason Aaron / Drawn by Mahmud Asrar

We have been loving Generations here at Alpha Comics, and this week’s addition follows up that sentiment with all the righteous smiting you’d expect from a couple of Thors, be they worthy or not!

Generations Thor 1 cover

Following the format of previous installments in this series, lady Thor has inexplicably travelled back in time to meet a much younger and as yet unworthy Odison. When a longship full of pike wielding Vikings tries to pillage Egyptian shores only to find the world’s first mutant lying in wait, the Gods of Thunder must heed the call and bring the Eternal Pharaoh to heel. Who better to tell this tale than Jason Aaron, the architect of the Thor odyssey since 2012. The story gives a nod to the status quo of Aaron’s ongoing Mighty Thor run, and there’s a cool reveal pertaining to the Avengers of 1,000,000 B.C. that’ll play out further in the pages of Legacy #1.

With Mahmud Asrar on art and Jordie Bellaire on color, Generations: The Unworthy Thor & The Mighty Thor #1 gets full marks, putting the series in lockstep with its Hulk, Jean Grey and Wolverine counterparts. Whether you’re collecting them all or a fan of The Mighty Thor series, this issue should not be missed. So saddle up your space-goat and cross over the Rainbow Bridge to your local comic shop before they run dry!  -Keli
